Kenley

My Story

Kenley, along with his older brother and younger sister, comes from a small community in Camp Perrin in southern Haiti. In 2022, their mother passed away, leaving their father to care for all twelve children from two different mothers—both of whom had sadly died. Kenley, only three years old, was severely malnourished. He had been part of a USAID nutrition program that supported young children in the area, but when the program ended, so did his access to proper food. A spiritual leader in the community, aware of Haiti ARISE and the Children’s Village, alerted us about the children’s dire condition. When our team assessed the family, their father shared the heartbreaking reality: the children were so hungry that some days they slept all day, too weak to do anything. They didn’t even have bread to eat. Out of desperation, he had already given away three of the older children before we learned of the situation. The three youngest—Kenley and his siblings—remained in his care, but it was clear they needed urgent help. On August 3, 2023, our team brought them to ARISE Children’s Village. Since then, Kenley and his siblings have been thriving in the loving care of the Saintil family. Just a few days of nourishment and care made all the difference, turning their story from one of struggle into one of hope and healing.
